Meaning
PPC stands for Pay Per Click: an advertising model in which the advertiser pays a fee each time someone clicks on an ad. In search, PPC ads appear on the results page alongside organic results, and the visibility generally stops when the spending stops. That is the key contrast with SEO, which earns unpaid visibility and tends to build up gradually. PPC can help a campaign start quickly, while SEO supports pages over a longer period.
