Meaning

URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator: the web address of a page or file, such as the text typed into a browser's address bar. A clean URL uses short, descriptive words separated by hyphens and avoids long strings of numbers and unnecessary parameters. The same content reachable through several URLs, for example with different filters, can confuse search engines, which is why a canonical URL is chosen.
