Anchor text

Meaning

Anchor text is the clickable words of a link, which give readers and search engines a hint about the page the link leads to. Google describes good anchor text as descriptive, reasonably concise and relevant to both the page it sits on and the page it points to, and says generic phrases such as click here are weak.
