Noindex

Meaning

Noindex is an instruction that asks search engines not to include a page in their index, so it should not appear in search results. Google's documentation says to add a robots meta tag in the page head, or an X-Robots-Tag header for files such as PDFs, and the page must not be blocked by robots.txt or the crawler cannot see the rule. It suits thank-you pages and private results, but it is dangerous if left in place by mistake after a redesign.
