Meaning

HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language: the standard code that structures the content of web pages, including headings, paragraphs, links and images. Search engines read the HTML to understand a page, so elements such as the title, headings, alt text and links matter. Important content and links should be present in the HTML when the page loads, because relying only on scripts adds a step and can fail. Semantic headings also help people using screen readers.
