Meaning

Structured data is standardised code that labels the meaning of page content, such as an article or a product, so machines can interpret it more reliably. Google recommends the JSON-LD format where your setup allows it. Adding it can make a result eligible for richer display, but eligibility depends on meeting the requirements and no special display is guaranteed. Mark up only information that is visible on the page, and test it with validation tools before publishing.
